KIRA TALKS ABOUT SEX IN THE GAME

Hi everybody. I am hoping everyone is well. I am going to get in on the discussion we’ve been having about sex in videos and how I feel it plays in the music industry.I feelthis a great topic especially with me being a woman in the industry and in the middle of two guys in our group, Trillogy. Being the lady in the group with two guys gives me a certain perspective on things. I do think that sex sells over talent in the music industry.
In my humble opinion, the industry is like 20 percent talent/singing and 80 percent looks. The industry wants people a certain size, a certain color and for a woman of color, that’s tall, light skin with long legs and long hair. It’s almost just like the Hollywood stereo-type of what a black woman should be. Female artists like Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson, it seems, have to take other avenues, such as the American Idol competition, to get their starts. They have to take these extreme roads, rather then having the opportunity to be brought into the Label offices and selling their talents directly to the executives, who often are concerned with the LOOK. I believe the industry has become more about an image and less about singing. But again, that is just my opinion. I believe in hard work and true talent. I believe in the LOVE of music and the expression of song. I believe in making my own way, rather then conforming to what others say my talent or my look should be. I believe in me and I believe in Trillogy. I also believe in all the aspiring female artists, such as myself. Chase your dreams, but don’t lose yourself in trying to conform to an image that some may suggest you should be and selling an image based on SEX alone, without selling your musical expression and talents.
